In the scope of implementation of the entrepreneurial discovery process and monitoring of the National Smart Specialisation, in 2017 the Ministry of Economic Development initiated the actions aimed at thematic concentration on the list and descriptions of the national smart specialisations. In connection with this fact, the Ministry of Economic Development held meetings with the representatives of NSS Working Groups, aimed at elaboration of new proposals in the scope of NSS.
As a result of performed works, the following changes were introduced in NSS
- NSS 1,2 and 3 were combined to form the NSS for Healthy Society,
- NSS 4 and 5 were combined to form the NSS for Innovative Technologies, Processes and Products of Agri-Food and Forestry-Wood Sector,
- descriptions of NSS 6, 7, 9, 20 were edited,
- the field of humanities was included in NSS 19,
- the name of NSS 6 was modified to Biotechnological and chemical processes and products of specialized chemistry and environmental engineering and of NSS 15 to Smart grids and information-communication and geo-information technologies.
On 7 December 2017 the Steering Committee has accepted the new list and the descriptions of NSS and in connection with this fact, since December 2017 there has been a new binding list of 17 national smart specialisations, along with the new detailed descriptions of NSS.
